A coach is different than a counselor, as a coach doesn’t counsel me like I need to be fixed. Kate focuses on my strengths. She is different than my friends as she isn’t involved in my personal life. She sees the big game plan and is coaching me through all the plays I need to make to win this game called life. Life (and growing a business) is far better with her by my side. I am stronger, more confident, more capable.

Client Stories

Do any of these experiences feel familiar?

Phil

Senior subject matter expert

20 years experience. Dedicated service to three companies and U.S. Marine Corps

Feeling unappreciated, tired and disillusioned at work with job negatively impacting personal life

Wants a change - either a full career/role shift or a new job with a different company

Looking for coaching in

  • broadening lens of what roles might be possible

  • increase understanding of what want out of next company and role

  • positioning and pitching for roles within and beyond current industry and role

  • latest job application techniques and technology tips, from resume and cover letters to maximizing LinkedIn, job boards, recruiters, networking, etc.

After twenty years experience honing both technical and industry specialities, Phil found himself in a rather niche role. While he had job security and a senior title, his teams’ workload was consistently increasing while headcount was reduced by upper management - leading to what he felt was inadequate work and no time to help his staff learn from their mistakes.

“I’m all about accountability, and grow further and further disillusioned with the current culture. I have achieved my numbers for the past eight years but I’m extremely tired and feel unappreciated. My current morale is at an all time low. My job has affected my personal life. I need to break free and be happy. I need to find a new job or career — or my marriage will be over and I’ll stay miserable.”

For the first time in his career, Phil reached out for help, and began working with Kaptivate’s Coach Kate to address next steps not only in his career, but also in his life in general. To take a step back and see what’s working or not, dream big about all areas of life, and take accountable actions to renewed confidence and wellbeing.

“The values and mindset work was everything….changed everything. I’m working out again. I’m meaningfully connecting with my team and peers again. I stood up to management for my values and what I believe to be the best for our clients, team and company. I feel so much better already - and my wife can tell!”

After using a variety of exercises to help identify a variety of careers suited for Phil, Kate supported him in developing his pitch, messaging, resume and cover letter to suit; tackling the “getting the job strategy;” and preparing for interviewing and negotiations. How to be picky about the next role, and have alignment with company culture, was a big focus.

“Kate, I had a great interview with the COO of {global software company} yesterday. I felt really good. She told me, 'Phil, your resume is fantastic. I love the format you utilized!' The resume really enhanced the opportunity. The resume documented everything they are looking for she said! Thank you for everything!”

Phil consistency put himself out into the world, networked, applied for roles, pitched himself, interviewed around, and just five months after starting coaching, secured exactly the role with the type of company he was looking for.

“Kate, I just accepted the job offer and my new title is Director of ... It has a catchy ring to it! I really like my boss and the culture - everyone gets along! Thanks again for everything you did for me.”

Ileana

Senior PRODUCT marketing manager

23 years experience, overseeing more than 15 new product launches and 640 campaigns.

Feeling frustrated and in a rut in a “dead-end” role with no hope of promotion after her company was acquired.

Wants advancement opportunities, to be challenged, and have fulfillment in her role. She is willing to switch companies to get the Director/Sr. Director position.

Looking for coaching in

  • mindset shifts and motivation while in current role and look for another

  • positioning and pitching for director-level roles

  • latest job application techniques and technology tips, including maximizing LinkedIn, job boards, recruiters and networking.

  • resume and cover letter development

  • health and wellness coaching

  • life coaching

Ileana took a job working for a company she loved and was promised a promotion several months down the road. A year later the company was acquired, her team was dispersed across multiple departments, she was assigned to a role that was different than the role she was hired for, and her title was changed - and not to the originally promised director title. For the first time in Ileana’s career, her self-confidence took a hit and she wasn’t sure how to move forward.

“I'm struggling because I LOVE the company (great culture, people, benefits) but I don't feel valued, appreciated or that I am using my full potential. I think I want to pursue a position with another company - essentially look for a new job - where I can leverage my full experience and capabilities.”

Which is when she found and started working with Coach Kate. Together they did mindset, strengths and values work, and took a step back to examine what Ileana really wanted out of her next role and company, her career evolution, and life overall. This renewed focus was not only motivating and confident- building, but also supported further resume, cover letter and pitch development.

“THANK YOU so much for the awesome resources and all the time you put in. It means a lot to me! I plan on submitting my application for the position this evening. I'm so excited about this! And even if I don't get this particular job, I feel well equipped to submit an awesome resume, cover letter and portfolio for similar jobs!”

Ileana focused on strategic networking and pitching, interviewed for multiple roles, negotiated with Kate’s help, and is now in her “dream role.”

Ileana and Kate have continued to work together, both in support of Ileana’s transition to her new company and role, as well as on her health and wellness, and maintaining balance in her life.

“I’m working at a really rewarding job, but now I need to balance exercise and healthy eating, and time to de-stress. My motivation and energy is up and down. Sometimes I'm optimistic and confident, other times I get discouraged. Would love your help putting some structure in place! You are truly amazing and I appreciate you so much!”

Anne

Non-Profit and Government DEVELOPMENT & Fundraising LEADER

25 years of experience developing, leading, and implementing successful fundraising strategies and programs.

Feeling exhausted from always being worried about other people and getting the “right things done right, right now.”

Wants to break her patterns and increase satisfaction in all areas of life as prepare to grow her family.

Looking for coaching in

  • Lose weight, exercise, get in better shape

  • Spend time on myself without guilt

  • Whack away at my work projects, some of which are very tedious and long-term

  • Have more satisfaction with work

  • Be able to work on things long-term and achieve long-term goals

  • Be able to be more satisfied / happy and let go of the ever-evolving, never ending to do list

BEFORE

“I'm a "recovering perfectionist" who still needs help. :) I've done a lot of work on myself the past 5-6 years, and while I'm very pleased with how far I've come, I still have something affecting my day-to-day life and I'd like to figure out what it is and how to address it. I'm at the point where I know where the "gremlins" come from, but I'm finding that I need some new tools to make my life more livable.

My to do list keeps me up at night - and the things I haven't done that I should have done. And the things that I didn't do "well" or "failed" at. Im never truly "happy" because I'm always thinking about the next thing that needs to be done, but even when that's done, there's always something else, so I'm thinking about that.

I also want to make some longer-term changes that will take time and require consistent dedication, and I tend to be more of a "work really hard and get it done right now" type of person.

I also worry far too much about other people - how are they doing, are they ok, how can I be of help, and that's exhausting.

So then I try to distance myself from it by playing a game on my iPhone or reading e-books incessantly to escape.

I'm looking for someone who can help me with these goals as, right now, I'm in a holding pattern, which isn't good for my work or family life.”

AFTER

“I can't recommend Kate highly enough. I found Kate through a Google search and after interviewing many potential life coaches, Kate stood apart from the rest.

She had a system for guiding you through your journey, and a three month time-frame to make it happen. (Many of the others just wanted to "talk" about your goals and a plan). I wanted something that worked, and that made me accountable while also exploring and defining my goals for the next phase of my life and career. I also wanted something that would be enjoyable. I wanted this journey to be something that was fun as well as productive. Kate brought all of that and more to my life.

With Kate, I was able to define my areas of strength and weakness, my short and long term goals, and my values. Her system really dives into who YOU are and what YOU want and then, her system plans it out to make it happen.

Since working with Kate, I've found a new job that I love (after being let go from a job I had for 12 years), and I'm happier in my life because I'm actively pursuing goals that matter to me and that align with my values. Best of all, Kate is always there for you when you need her for a quick question or an "atta girl."

I've continued working with Kate because I saw so much positive change in my life. Our sessions keep me on track, and everyone I know says that I'm happier than I ever have been before (I completely agree).

If you're ready to dive into YOU and you're looking for a coach who can help you achieve your dreams, look no further than Kate Peabody at KaptivateMe. You will only regret that you didn't find her sooner!”

During your Discovery Call you and Kate will review potential paths forward — from a more structured, curriculum approach with specific exercises out of the KaptivateMe Workbook, to a more fluid approach with each session’s focus based on wherever you are that day/week with a larger goal in mind, or something in-between. We will also discuss where you might need more support and time from Kate between sessions, such as resume development. From there, Kate will give you a personalized proposal.

Because change doesn’t happen over night but it does eventually snowball, Kate recommends starting by meeting weekly (minimum bi-weekly) for the first three months, and having quick text check-ins between - but everything is customized to your needs.
