Before our first coaching session, think about both personal and professional moments/stories, from the last few years, where you felt: Happy, Fulfilled, Proud.
Session 1: Job Framework & PAR Framework to fill resume gaps and prep for cover letter - 2 hour kick-off
Review strengths and skills assessments results for how to leverage in life, next role and in resume/CL.
We’ll ground ourselves in existing big goals in other areas of your life for the role to support, completing the "job framework" worksheet to clarify the MVP requirements for your next role/company, from expected salary and benefits to work environment and values to must-have role activities and responsibilities.
Review Potential Roles to go after, brainstorming and adding to an initial list of potential roles/titles, org types, companies and industries for search and networking beyond the obvious.
Discuss and write “PAR” statements for your resume and cover letter based on key items in job description and your most proud moments, walking through how I’m writing and ultimately restructuring your resume to be skills and results-based rather than chronological so we can just spoon feed recruiters and bots what they are looking for.
If a portfolio of case studies is required, PAR is great framework for that too
Homework:
Kate will take another pass at the resume and first draft of the cover letter, with Client’s help generating more PAR statements or providing additional info as needed.
If a portfolio is needed, Client to take on writing initial statements.

We’ll go through the resume and cover letter live, addressing any final gaps.
We’ll talk about how to update the resume most effectively for each role you apply
We'll discuss cover letter cadence, template, and how to update for different roles, or turn it into a pitch.
As needed, we’ll discuss the portfolio and can do some live edits together
Based on your individual needs, I'll walk you through all of my career resources to talk "Getting the Job" strategy to make sure you're approaching the search from every angle - maximizing job boards, talent networks, recruiters, connectworking, pitching yourself - and are creating an effective routine to keep you moving on the job hunt in the midst of everything else in your life.

Breaking Free - A KaptivateMe Client Story
A life and career coaching case study with Phil, a KaptivateMe client
20 years experience. Dedicated service to three companies and U.S. Marine Corps
Feeling unappreciated, tired and disillusioned at work with job negatively impacting personal life
Wants a change - either a full career/role shift or a new job with a different company
Looking for coaching in
broadening lens of what roles might be possible
increase understanding of what want out of next company and role
positioning and pitching for roles within and beyond current industry and role
latest job application techniques and technology tips, from resume and cover letters to maximizing LinkedIn, job boards, recruiters, networking, etc.
After twenty years experience honing both technical and industry specialities, Phil found himself in a rather niche role. While he had job security and a senior title, his teams’ workload was consistently increasing while headcount was reduced by upper management - leading to what he felt was inadequate work and no time to help his staff learn from their mistakes.
“I’m all about accountability, and grow further and further disillusioned with the current culture. I have achieved my numbers for the past eight years but I’m extremely tired and feel unappreciated. My current morale is at an all time low. My job has affected my personal life. I need to break free and be happy. I need to find a new job or career — or my marriage will be over and I’ll stay miserable.”
For the first time in his career, Phil reached out for help, and began working with KaptivateMe’s Coach Kate to address next steps not only in his career, but also in his life in general. To take a step back and see what’s working or not, dream big about all areas of life, and take accountable actions to renewed confidence and wellbeing.
“The values and mindset work was everything….changed everything. I’m working out again. I’m meaningfully connecting with my team and peers again. I stood up to management for my values and what I believe to be the best for our clients, team and company. I feel so much better already - and my wife can tell!”
After using a variety of exercises to help identify a variety of careers suited for Phil, Kate supported him in developing his pitch, messaging, resume and cover letter to suit; tackling the “getting the job strategy;” and preparing for interviewing and negotiations. How to be picky about the next role, and have alignment with company culture, was a big focus.
“Kate, I had a great interview with the COO of {global software company} yesterday. I felt really good. She told me, 'Phil, your resume is fantastic. I love the format you utilized!' The resume really enhanced the opportunity. The resume documented everything they are looking for she said! Thank you for everything!”
Phil consistency put himself out into the world, networked, applied for roles, pitched himself, interviewed around, and just five months after starting coaching, secured exactly the role with the type of company he was looking for.
“Kate, I just accepted the job offer and my new title is Director of ... It has a catchy ring to it! I really like my boss and the culture - everyone gets along! Thanks again for everything you did for me.”
CONGRATULATIONS, PHIL!
