Oh My! "Gen Z's Mental Health is a Climate Priority: Here's Why | KD Hurlbutt | TEDxYouth"

You’ve heard me mention KD Hurlbutt on the blog before — she’s the brilliant mind behind Bask+Being and The Cards (That Have Net To Be Named) — that actually HAVE been named and are coming to my home oh so soon now.

Anyways, KD and I met each other working deep in the world of environmental sustainability and global natural and physical infrastructure. So it’s no surprise that this environmental scientist turned burnout coach immediately started to see some similar patterns.

Because she’s determined to help others understand what’s at risk - and how we can still make a difference - she put together her pitch and soon I heard:

“It’s a dream come true! I’m giving a TEDx talk.” - KD Hurlbutt

In her TEDx talk, KD explains how climate change and burnout are two sides of the same coin (because they’re both stress responses). She teaches the science of both in a simple way and weaves in her own near-death experience to show us how to solve both. It might sound bleak, but if you know KD, you know it is anything but. She paints a picture of possibility, too.

I had the pleasure of watching KD do a final practice run live via Zoom one morning; it gave me all of the feels and had me jumping out of my seat with motivation to action.

Watch it. She’s a great storyteller, AND you’ll leave wiser.
